Neil P. Shull, Ph.D. is a Partner with the firm. Dr. Shull began his patent career in 2005. He has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry, gene therapy, chemistry, pharmaceuticals and consumer products. He also is experienced in patent strategy, due diligence and opinions regarding freedom-to-operate, infringement, and validity. Dr. Shull has significant experience representing both patent owners and petitioners during inter partes review proceedings which helps to guide his prosecution work.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Shull was an associate at an intellectual property specialty firm. During law school, he worked as a patent agent at a large multi-national law firm. Prior to law school, he worked as a technology licensing associate at the University of Rochester where he managed a diverse portfolio of technologies.

Dr. Shull completed his graduate work at the University of Rochester characterizing enzymes involved in metabolism of a previously unknown small molecule produced during tRNA splicing in yeast. He has laboratory experience in chromatography, genomics, cloning, protein purification, yeast genetics, and pharmaceutical quality control testing.
